The tool is free

This is a free web utility. There is no account, no subscription, no payment. You may use it for personal, commercial, educational, or any lawful purpose.

No warranty

The tool is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. .gitignore templates follow widely-used patterns, but always review the generated output before committing it to your repository.

• Templates may not cover every edge case for every project configuration. You are responsible for verifying the output suits your needs.
• The tool does not guarantee that generated .gitignore files will prevent every possible accidental commit. Review your repository’s state with git status after applying any .gitignore.
• Patterns are based on community conventions that may evolve. For the most current patterns, consult the github/gitignore repository directly.

Your responsibility

You are responsible for the actions you take based on the tool’s output. We are not liable for files accidentally committed or excluded, or any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from your usage.

Acceptable use

Don’t use this site to attack, scrape at high volume, frame as your own work without attribution, or violate any applicable law.

This site’s HTML and client-side code is open source. You can read, fork, or self-host it. License: MIT. Brand assets and content text are © Plato and not covered by the code license.
